With special reference to diabetes, a practice nurse gets herself in a pickle as she tries to do all the right things when telling a patient his blood results over the phone.  She epitomises good communication practice but somehow it all feels wrong.  An amusing but uncomfortable look at some of the common pitfalls of everyday clinical work, illuminating the additional hurdles that seem to pop up in telephone encounters.
